People message me about partner codes all the time. Same question every time: do you get discounted fees or free trading?
No. AvaTrade charges zero commission on forex. You pay the spread. The spread is the fee. A partner code won't affect it.
What 128979 does is unlock the welcome bonus. Bonus money added to your account based on deposit size. Nothing more complicated than that.
Bonus amounts?
$1,000 deposit adds $200.
$2,000 adds $400.
Deposits between $5,000 and $9,999 get $1,000.
Deposit $100,000+ and you can get up to $14,000. Most people won't hit that.
UK accounts start at £160 for £800 deposited. Scales up to £11,200 maximum.
Minimum to open an account is $100. Bonus requires $1,000 minimum.
The field is hidden
When you're signing up. After you enter your phone number, look for small text that says "Have a Partner Code?" with an arrow next to it. Click on that text. The field expands. Type **128979**.
Easy to miss since it's collapsed by default.
If the system rejects it, don't panic. Go ahead and register anyway. Message your account manager before you deposit. Ask them to add code 128979. They do this manually all the time.
You can't withdraw the bonus straight away
A trading volume condition applies.
About 10,000 units for every dollar of bonus. $200 bonus requires 2,000,000 units of trading volume. Slower if you're trading micro lots. Regular trading gets you there sooner than you'd expect.
Your deposit is yours. Take it out anytime. Bonus funds remain locked until volume is met.
Something useful to understand: while the bonus is locked, it still counts toward your margin. This lets you take bigger positions. That breathing room helps while you're learning.
